GENERAL PRODUCT INFORMATION
GRIP-TEK products have evolved to bring to the marketplace a new generation of organic and in-organic compounds specifically designed to combat the ever-increasing problem of polymerization and microbiologic cleanliness to porous hard surface flooring especially in wet or contaminated conditions.
After years of painstaking research and development, a completely new chemical product line has been developed that will effectively disinfect, eliminate contamination, clean, degrease, and as an ancillary benefit reduce the potential for slip and fall accidents in commercial, industrial and residential applications on porous hard surface flooring including: ceramic tile, quarry tile, marble, finished cement, terrazzo, porcelain and some synthetic materials. Simply a must for public and private bathroom and shower areas.
In general, silica (mineral based) based flooring is designed for appearance only, not cleanliness; and of course liquids are not the only reason floors become contaminated and thus slippery. Oils, grease, food residue and other contaminants become ingrained in the floor surface during normal use making even the most slip resistant floors slippery. Daily cleaning and maintenance is an essential part of any program but many of the current cleaning products available do not address the problem of contamination. They do not remove accumulated oils, grease and other contaminants from within the pores of the floor. Moreover, most cleaning products contain detergents which leave a soapy residue which when wet become a slip inducing contaminant. There's no substitute for an effective maintenance program.
OUR TREATMENT PRODUCTS
These unique compounds, Strip-it & Grip-it, are not topical coatings. They actually alter the molecular structure of the floor by using micro-encapsulation and advanced variable pH adjustment, creating an increase in traction of up to 500% in wet conditions without causing any significant change to the visual appearance or texture of the surface treated. In fact, floors protected by these compounds exceed nationally accepted dry floor safety standards when wet or even underwater.
To complement its Wet Floor Safety Technology, Grip-Tek has also developed a high performance cleaner and degreaser that leaves no soapy residue; completely digests mineral and vegetable based grease and oil, eliminates odor-causing bacteria and leaves your floors free of contamination.
OUR MAINTENANCE CLEANER AND NEUTRALIZER
Our maintenance cleaner, MAINTAIN-IT is designed specifically to optimize and maintain areas treated with STRIP-IT & GRIP-IT. It is also ideal for maintaining maximum traction, once the area has been treated, leaving your floors "squeaky-clean", "contaminant free" and "slip resistant".
GRIP-TEK products can be applied professionally by certified technicians or by your own maintenance personnel (training is available). The application process is simple and can be accomplished without disturbance to guests, customers, employees or residents and can be applied safely and without danger to maintenance personnel or the environment. The application process also includes the use of an ecologically responsible neutralizer, if it becomes necessary.
One gallon of product, GRIP-IT OR STRIP-IT, will treat approximately 100 square feet in an easy five (5) step process (if necessary), which costs on average less than .50 cents per square foot. For commercial use the protection will last from 1 to 3 months depending on traffic patterns and maintenance procedures.
GRIP-TEK floors are easy to maintain too. Safe and efficient MAINTAIN-IT RTU (ready to use) maintenance cleaner can be used as a spot treatment that leaves previously treated floor surfaces squeaky clean. This state-of-the-art cleaner maintains floor traction by loosening soil and grease contamination from treated surfaces without leaving a residue and may be used as a neutralizer once the areas have been treated with either GRIP-IT OR STRIP-IT.
GRIP-TEK protection is highly durable, long lasting and COMPLETELY BIO-DEGRADABLE when neutralized with GRIP-TEK’S NEUTRALIZERS. These products can be used indoors and outdoors with complete safety and effectiveness. GRIP-TEK products will stand up to constant cleaning and severe weather conditions. Once applied, GRIP-TEK protection is virtually undetectable and independent testing has demonstrated no significant change to surface appearance or texture.
WHAT MAKES A FLOOR SLIPPERY
The three main reasons hard floor surfaces become slippery are the lack of an effective maintenance program, polymerization and dry soap residue.
Polymerization: is a reaction process caused by the linking of airborne molecules of grease, food particles and other contaminants which form new compounds upon evaporation / condensation that leaves a microscopic film within the porous surface structure of hard flooring. Air movement, heat, steam and high humidity conditions carry and distribute these molecules and other contaminants. During the normal evaporation process many of these particles drop out of the air, fall to the surface and combine with existent and other contaminants to form the slippery film mentioned above.
Dry Soap Residue: consists of highly alkaline mixtures used in all alkaline degreasers to breakdown grease particles. These compounds can never be fully removed by rinsing, as the particles are so fine that together with microscopically broken down grease particles lodge themselves within the natural pores of hard mineral surfaces. Eventually these pores are filled with soap residue, grease particles and other contaminants to form a hard microscopic film over the entire floor. As the floor dries during the cleaning process these particles are actually distributed by the rinsing process and are left on the surface during normal evaporation and condensation (this is the reason why a quarry tile, one of the most porous hard surfaces, stains so badly after a few months). When a liquid is spilled on the dry surface the residue becomes viscous and contaminated again and again, only this time it is combined with trapped grease, food particles and other contaminants. Over time, this condition can become so severe that even when dry the floor is slippery!
SOUND FAMILIAR - HERE'S WHAT YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT
1. The only practical and reliable method of eliminating polymerization is to treat the area with MAINTAIN-IT, the best and most effective non-residual cleaner available on the market today.
2. Train your staff to change the rinse water regularly. Make available to them clean mop heads and insist they use and change them regularly.
3. If the condition does not improve dramatically within 2 days, treat the floor once again with GRIP-IT" and continue normal maintenance with MAINTAIN-IT.
4. In addition, the above treatment processes are particularly effective in food service areas and are simply a must on commercial and residential bathroom and shower floors. Neutralize No 1 is also effective for insect control in food establishments though it is not labeled as such.
